21st of June - International Yoga Day

2018-03-16

Every year on 21st of June, the International Day of Yoga is celebrated worldwide under the aegis of the United Nations. In honor of this holiday, the Embassy of India in Ukraine organized several events.

The "Scan Biotech" company was the partner of the events. The first yoga marathon, which took place on June 18, 2017 in Kiev on Khreshchatyk, was the brightest and largest. More than 4 thousand people came to the main street of the country in the early morning to get acquainted with Indian culture and ancient Indian practice - yoga. At the marathon came people of different ages - from children to retirees, residents and guests of the capital, both those who have been engaged for a long time, and beginners. The organizers of the event provided everyone with rugs and t-shirts. The yoga session was personally conducted by Indian Ambassador to Ukraine Manoj Kumar Bharti: "Start yoga and you will see how it will change your life," Indian Ambassador to Ukraine Manoj Kumar Bharti recommended. "When you practice yoga, the feeling of happiness and pleasure lasts longer ... Yoga tells you how to control the mind, feelings, thoughts. And I want so many Ukrainians to understand that yoga is easy, "said Manoj Kumar Bharti. In the yoga session took part 1517 people, thereby setting a new record for Ukraine, which was recorded by experts of the "Book of Records of Ukraine." The second significant event was the celebration of the third International Yoga Day on June 21, 2017 in the Mariinsky Park in Kiev. The celebration was opened by the Ambassador of India to Ukraine Manoj Kumar Bharti. More than 25 Ukrainian schools and yoga institutes took part in this event. All schools conducted separate classes on yoga, gave master classes and shared with present their vision of the world. Each visitor received a small yoga manual describing the basics of yoga and performing asanas. The event was an excellent means for spreading yoga, peace, friendship and Indian culture among the people of Ukraine.
